A massive python travelled nearly 100 km across two states, hidden inside the engine compartment of a truck transporting stones for a road construction project. The vehicle began its journey in Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh, and reached its destination in Narkatiaganj, Bihar. The driver remained oblivious to the snake’s presence throughout the 98 km long journey.
The python, estimated to be several feet long, likely entered the truck’s engine compartment while it was being loaded with stones in Kushinagar. The snake remained hidden inside the engine compartment for the entire duration of the journey, coming out only when the truck reached its destination.
A video shared on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) by user @KiCainala shows the massive python coiled up inside the truck’s bonnet.
Upon discovery, the labourers alerted the forest department, who quickly mobilised a rescue team. After a long struggle, the team freed the snake from its cramped hiding spot within the engine compartment.
Forest department officials confirmed that no injuries or attacks were caused by the snake during its long journey. The python was safely transported to a nearby forest, where it was released back into the wild.
The Kushinagar area in UP is known for its high population of snakes, with frequent sightings and incidents involving these reptiles. This region has become infamous for such occurrences, leading to regular snake rescues by both local residents and forest department teams.
In July, a remarkable snake rescue operation took place in Gangrani village, where over 150 baby cobras were found inside a house. The snakes made their home in burrows created by rats in the concrete structure, where they had laid eggs.
Upon hearing of the situation, the forest department sent two employees, but they quickly turned back after seeing the overwhelming number of snakes. The situation escalated until a local rescuer from Gulelha was called in. From 10 PM to 2 PM the following day, he successfully rescued over 150 snakes, most of which were baby cobras. However, one large snake managed to escape.
The rescuer confirmed that he had brought the snakes to his home and planned to release them in the Valmiki Nagar jungle. The rescue operation took over 16 hours and the forest department also had to exert considerable effort to manage the situation.
