A video from Uttar Pradesh showing a man blatantly flouting traffic rules has ignited calls for stricter enforcement of traffic laws and penalties for violators.

A video of a man recklessly driving a four-wheeler on the NH-9 highway has gone viral on social media and has raised concerns over the safety of others on the road. The video, which was recorded by another individual driving behind the vehicle, shows the man veering onto the footpath of the NH-9 highway, which stretches from Malout in Punjab to Pithoragarh in Uttarakhand.
The video of the man blatantly disregarding traffic rules was shared on X (formerly known as Twitter) by journalist Lokesh Rai. It shows the Thar SUV driving on the footpath meant for pedestrians. As the video progresses, the driver lowers the left-side wheels off the footpath and continues driving.

The video, since being shared on December 1, has accumulated over 17,900 views and numerous comments. Many called for stricter enforcement of traffic laws and the need for harsher penalties for such violations to ensure public safety.
