Comedian-actor Vir Das, who recently hosted the 52nd International Emmy Awards, garnered praise on the internet for his heartfelt gesture toward a fan waiting for more than two years to watch him perform live.
The fan, who is a student from Vadodara, had earlier reached out to the comedian during his Wanted tour and sent a message to him, sharing a desire to watch his show.
A screenshot shared from the fan’s direct message to Das on Instagram read, “Hey Vir, big fan from Vadodara. I have always wished to attend one of your shows and this Wanted tour was the only string of hope I was holding on to.”
Explaining his financial concerns, the person wrote, “Unfortunately, I am not earning yet. So, I begged my father as much as I could and he, for very obvious reasons (financial constraints), denied.
“I am a student and I leave for Canada for my further studies in July. I will start earning then… you come to Toronto or somewhere near there, I will be able to attend your show. This is now the string of thread I will be holding on to for now! Good luck for the remaining Wanted tour Vir, always rooting for you.”
Later, the fan shared an update and said she was finally attending the comedian’s Mindfool tour in Toronto.
“Hi Vir, I did start earning, and I will be attending your Mindfool tour in Toronto. Hehe. So so so so excited for this,” the person wrote.
Responding to the fan, Das offered the person free tickets for the show. “Hey, kid. If you see this before the show, my team has DMed you. Your tickets are on me. I’m so proud of you.”
In the caption, Das wrote his team was trying to get in touch with the fan, but has not received any response. “If you see this, I’m proud of you. You waited over two years to see me and made the sweetest promise. You’re NOT paying. Please respond to my team,” he added.

Sharing that he had massive respect for the person, Das met her with a piece of cake.
Alongside a photograph of himself with the fan, Das wrote, “Finally met kid after my show and she is studying psychology. Her dad is very proud.”
Interestingly, the fan also didn’t show up empty-handed and brought a diary for him. “If you are kids’ parents, would just like to say, well done. You raised a strong character,” the comedian concluded.
