The Internet thinks that the murderer of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson bears a striking resemblance to Hollywood stars Timothee Chalamet and Jake Gyllenhaal.

UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson was tragically murdered outside a hotel in New York just hours before an investor meeting. The police described the attack on the 50-year-old as “premeditated” and “targetted” and have since launched a manhunt for the suspect. The New York Police Department released multiple photographs of the assailant, including new unmasked images showing him wearing a black hoodie and jeans. They announced a reward for information leading to an arrest of the gunman.
“Below are photos of a person of interest wanted for questioning regarding the Midtown Manhattan homicide on Dec. 4. This does not appear to be a random act of violence; all indications are that it was a premediated, targeted attack,” wrote NYPD on X while sharing photos of the suspect.
The department added, “The full investigative efforts of the NYPD are continuing, and we are asking for the public’s help—if you have any information about this case, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477). There is a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction.”

And ever since the police released new photographs of the suspect, the Internet is rife with theories about his appearance, with many pointing out a striking resemblance to Hollywood actors Timothee Chalamet and Jake Gyllenhaal.
The now-viral image of the suspect, grinning from ear to ear, has sparked a flurry of comparisons to Hollywood stars on social media. “It’s Jake Gyllenhaal,” wrote an X user.
“Jake Gyllenhaal wanted in connection with United CEO assassination,” another joked while sharing a side-by-side image of the suspect and the actor.
A third quipped, “This is going to make a killer Netflix show (no pun intended). Jake Gyllenhaal, pick up the phone.”
“He kind of looks like Jake Gyllenhaal to me,” said a fourth.
Others thought that the gunman who fired several shots at Thompson and fled the scene looked strikingly similar to Timothee Chalamet.
“Did Timothee Chalamet kill the United Healthcare CEO?” asked an individual.
Another commented, “So let me get this straight, a month or so ago, a guy held a Timothee Chalamet lookalike competition in NYC and then yesterday a guy who looks like Timothee Chalamet got caught on camera killing the UnitedHealthcare CEO in NYC. what’s going on?”
“Timothy Chalamet keeps surprising me,” quipped a third.
A fourth posted, “The gunman who killed that CEO looks like Timothee Chalamet but none of you are ready for that conversation.”
But everyone was not convinced. Some speculated that the unmasked man in the newly released photos might not even be the shooter. “Um has no one noticed that the Jake Gyllenhaal/Timothee Chalamet guy is wearing a different jacket and a different backpack than the alleged shooter? So they had the forethought to change jackets and bags but uncovered their face at Starbucks for a coffee? Something stinks,” one X user said.
Another said, “This is clearly not the same person. I predict a fall guy will be used. They don’t want the general public to know how easy it is to kill a CEO in broad daylight and get away with it.”
