In a shocking incident aboard a United Airlines flight bound for Los Angeles on November 16, a passenger had a violent outburst mid-air. Viral videos from the flight captured the man causing damage inside the plane as other passengers attempted to intervene and restrain him. While the situation caused significant commotion, the reason behind his erratic actions remains unknown.
On board United Airlines Flight 502, carrying 76 passengers and five crew members, chaos unfolded when a man suddenly climbed onto a seat and began violently kicking the back of another seat with enough force to knock it down. The outburst continued as the man repeatedly stamped on the seat with his foot before leaping onto the chair in an apparent attempt to dismantle it.

Not just that, another video also shows the passenger wrecking a plastic tray table. One of his co-passengers, Gino Galofaro, who captured the incident on camera, spoke to a local TV station and shared how he and some others got up together to restrain the man when they saw the flight attendant doing nothing. “I took that video really quick, and I watched the flight attendant walk by and do nothing. Nobody on the plane was doing anything. So, I got up and proceeded to restrain him. Two other bystanders were getting zip ties from the flight attendant,” he said as per USA Today.
Galofaro and others had to use the zip ties to restrain the man and then belt him to a seat.
Later, in a statement, United Airlines confirmed that the disruptive activities occurred on November 16, when local law enforcement had to intervene after the flight landed at the Los Angeles International Airport. Thanking the flight crew for addressing the situation and ensuring everyone’s safety, the airline confirmed that the passenger in question was banned from travelling on future United flights.
Notably, the incident came just weeks after another violent passenger was caught attacking a co-passenger on the same airline’s flight. Earlier this month, a 44-year-old man named Everett Chal Nelson was accused of stopping at a random seat and punching a sleeping passenger in the face until he started bleeding.
The unidentified victim sustained serious injury to his nose and bruising to his eyes.
