In recent years, rising pollution and high taxes have become major concerns for many people in India, leading some to consider moving abroad. Recently, a Goa-based investor sparked online debate by announcing his plans to relocate to Singapore. He explained that the high taxes and worsening pollution, along with the lack of responsibility from politicians, made him feel that staying in India was no longer an option. Although he plans to leave for a better quality of life, he encouraged others with “good money” to do the same. However, his comments have generated mixed reactions from social media users.
The entrepreneur wrote, “I will leave India and permanently shift to Singapore in 2025. Documentation in process. I cannot stand the politicians here. Can’t pay 40% tax and breathe polluted air while nobody takes accountability. My honest suggestion would be that if you have good money, please leave.”

“Singapore will tax you even more, just in a different way. The standard of living is so high and it’s impossible to buy property there unless you’re stinking rich. You’ll still need a PR which means working like a slave in an ironclad dictatorship for 10 years. You have minimal rights there. Buying a car? Forget it,” a comment read.

Another asked, “We are 1.4bn idiots living here? A few thousand have the means to go away from home and live in clean and efficient cities but without any soul. They go away and then start looking to mix up with fellow Indians.”

One more added, “I living here in Singapore for the last 6 year the taxes are low but the cost of living is too high. More than 60% of income goes in house rental and children education and you are away from everything parents and friends so not worth it. I’m finally moving back to India.”

This isn’t the first time the investor has suggested people to leave India for a better life. In an earlier post, he explained that earning around Rs 50,000 in India isn’t enough to live comfortably. He pointed out that with the same salary, one could enjoy a much better lifestyle in places like Bali or Thailand. He encouraged those in similar situations to leave India as soon as possible for a higher standard of living.
If you make approx ₹50k salary in India then trust me you are living the life of a beggar. You can make ₹50k in Bali or Thailand and you’ll be able to live like a king.
Leave as soon as you can.
