With less than a month left in 2024, the excitement for 2025 is already mingling with apprehension and humour. As people reflect on the past year and set resolutions for the upcoming one, social media is flooded with a quirky observation: the 2025 calendar starts with “WTF” (a nod to both the weekday sequence – Wednesday, Thursday, Friday; and the expletive phrase “What the f***”). Many have also pointed out that 2025 feels oddly similar to 2020, which also started on a Wednesday and heralded a year of unprecedented events.
“2025 is coming,” read a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), with a screenshot of the new calendar that highlighted the infamous “WTF” start. The text on the screenshot reads, “When you realise the new year starts with WTF.”
Another joked, “2025 starts with ‘WTF’. We’re all cooked.”
“Should we be worried that 2025 begins with WTF? Or nah,” asked a third.
A fourth simply wrote, “WTF is the start of 2025.”
“2025 will start with ‘WTF’ instead of Happy New Year,” quipped a fifth.
A sixth made a pointed comparison: “2025 will start with a ‘WTF’ just like 2020 — the year the COVID-19 pandemic and other major global events unfolded.”
Age-reversing millionaire Bryan Johnson also hopped on the bandwagon and shared his thoughts on the upcoming year. He wrote, “2025 is going to be wild. There are no priors.”

Amid the conspiracy theory, an individual gave a new meaning to the upcoming year. He wrote, “Wealthy, Thankful and Fun 2025.”
“2025 is going to be the year of success, money and joy,” wrote yet another.
should we be really worried about the upcoming year for starting on the same day as that of 2020 or will this year will bring good things? Only time will tell.
While the parallels to 2020 have raised concerns, most people are embracing the humour to welcome 2025. Some have even expressed optimism, turning the conversation toward hope. But should we truly worry about the upcoming year starting on the same day as 2020, or will 2025 surprise us with positivity? Only time will tell.
